A Word from Members of the Tempest Staff...
"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote Whitman, 'O me! 0 life! Of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of thefaithless, of citiesfilled with thefoolish . . . What good amid these, 0 me, 0 life? Answer. That you are here - that life exists and identity; That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. ' That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?"

Study after study shows that students' involvement in the arts makes a tremendous difference in their lives, bringing a sense of meaning to their education that, oftentimes, the core curriculum does not. With that in mind, Tempest staff and Dover Middle School would like to thank the following organizations for their support of the arts via generous cash donations toward the production of this magazine:
Dover Parent Teacher Association
Dover Teachers' Union
Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for giving us a place to write our verses.
